Aims: Skills and confidence to search and find information on the NHS healthcare databases – tailored to suit your needs
- log on to the databases
- develop a search strategy
- conduct a search

- locate and access full text articles

An Introduction to Critical Appraisal
Aim: To provide an overview of critical appraisal to facilitate the use of up to date evidence in decision-making about practice
Learning Outcomes: Attending this course will enable you to
- Gain an awareness of the differences between quantitative and qualitative research and the hierarchy of evidence
- Develop the skills needed to systematically assess the validity of research papers by using a critical appraisal checklist
- Get a definition of statistical terms used in research papers
Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours
